January 15 - The 64th Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton.
January 21 - Parliamentary and Presidential elections take place in Serbia.
January 24 - 28 - World Economic Forum Annual Meetings are held in Davos, Switzerland. January 24 - 28 - World Social Forum Annual Meetings are held in Nairobi, Kenya.
January 26 - Republic Day in India.
January 30 - Windows Vista, Microsoft's latest Operating System is released world wide to consumers, following XP.

February 2 - Rugby League Super League kicks off with St Helens v Huddersfield
February 4 - Super Bowl XLI will occur at Dolphin Stadium, in Miami Gardens, Florida. February 11 - Referendum for the legalization of abortion takes place in Portugal.
February 18 - Chinese New Year: The Year of the Pig begins, as does the numeric year 4705. February 23 - 15th Rugby League World Club Challenge St Helens v Brisbane Broncos at Bolton's Reebok Stadium

The current British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, is expected to announce in March his date of leaving office. His successor, most likely Gordon Brown, will be decided in a leadership election. Wembley Stadium, the National football stadium of England is expected to be completed O2, the former Millennium Dome in London, will reopen as an entertainment complex. The Republic of Ireland is expected to hold a general election. India's 10th Five Year Plan comes to an end. Uranus' orbit will be positioned such that the Sun shines directly above its equator. The Andean Community and Mercosur will fully integrate into the South American Community of Nations. A presidential election will take place in Kenya. A legislative election will most certainly take place in Australia. Most candidates seeking their party's nomination in the 2008 United States presidential election will declare their candidacies and start actively campaigning. The Hidden Imam will appear this year, according to Iranian President Ahmadinejad.
